I reached into my closet this morning to get a skirt, and a giant spider ran out of the skirt and skittered along my arm before leaping into the pair of trousers hanging next to the skirt. I shall have to buy a whole new set of clothes today and keep them in a different closet, because clearly I can never open my current closet again.

But, but, but... you don't have giant spiders in Britain. You have wimpy little spiders, nothing like tropical spiders.

Obviously you are in great danger and Aragog has moved into your closet. Swap closets with Bobby immediately.

Oh you and your subtropical oneupmanship! Our spiders may not be actually giant, nor venomous, nor even particularly hairy, but there are a freakish number of them at the moment, they all have too many legs, they skitter, and, oh, did you miss the part where one is IN MY CLOSET?? LIVING - or at least spending some time - IN MY TROUSERS?

Hey, do you guys commonly find snakes in your gardens/houses, as well as scary spiders?

I had a huntsman spider nest in my room a couple of years back. They're really cool, they hunt and kill cockroaches or saw palmetto bugs.

We also have a lot of redbacks in the garden and they do scare me.

We've had snakes under the house and my parents had a snake in their house recently. You just ring up the snake removal guys and they come and take the snake to safety.

Get Bobby to go in there and save the clothing.
We can all pull out the girly card in extreme situations. And this is obviously very extreme.

Amusing entry...and amusing comments! We have black widows here. Thankfully, I have not seen one in the house. And the tarantulas stay out at Red Rock.

ewwww. I am with you all the way....can't stand the spiders. I have warnd Mark already that I will not be setting foot in the garden during "spider season"!

OMG there are tarantulas at red rock? I'm so glad I didn't know that when we were climbing there!!

And Anna, snake removal guys ... very organised. ;-) The snakiness was one thing I didn't like when we lived in Florida; aside from all the non-venomous ones there were plenty of dangerous ones - my neighbour found a coral snake on her doormat, for instance, which freaked me out!

I only have one thing to say ... AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I hate spiders, shop away!

Well, I kinda don't bother to mention to G that it is probable there are snakes in our roof, esp what with the extreme drought and all.

If I told him that he's probably not going to go and do what needs to be done up there. And at least the snakes are keeping the mice population down.
