Well.
It looks like we have that house.
The sellers have accepted an offer of 5k more than we first offered, but 10k less than they were asking.
So this evening we dropped all our details - solicitor's number, broker's number, copies of our passports and marriage certificate - off with the estate agent.
I feel strangely numb about this. Maybe because I've heard so many horror stories about property transactions here that I am almost expecting it to fall through. And if I don't get too excited about it, then I won't be too disappointed if it doesn't work out.
So ... we shall see what happens.
In other news, term started again at the school where I work. I'd probably be a bit tired this evening anyway, after a long day of work after a three week break, but because I walked today (3.5 miles each way) I am currently absolutely exhausted. I could quite easily climb into bed right this second, but I need to do a load of laundry and assemble tomorrow night's dinner first. (I plan to use the slowcooker tomorrow; will put the prepared dish in the fridge tonight and then pop the crock into the slowcooker before I leave tomorrow).
I did enjoy the walk, though. The first two miles take me along busy roads, but the last mile or so runs through fields and woods. I found the foggy fields very soothing this morning; a nice tranquil time before I was plunged into the chaos of a busy secondary school. And today, coming home, I watched a deer standing by the path for what seemed like ages before it finally ran across in front of me. Unexpected and beautiful.
