I'm a lot less tired this evening than I was yesterday, despite having walked to and from work again. I really enjoyed the walk this morning (though my feet are tired right now!) Saw a whole group of rabbits (is there a collective noun for rabbits?) scampering across a field this morning - helped start the day off on a good note. And the walk home is a nice decompression time. When I drive, I go straight from taking care of other people's children to taking care of my own; when I walk I get some time to myself inbetween.

So - the house -

Well, so far everything is on track with the sale. Early days yet of course.

The house itself is in a great location. Just around the corner from where we are now, but in a nicer street - a pretty cul-de-sac. We'll still be able to walk everywhere - the shops, the library, the cinema, school and work, and the huge park a couple of blocks away - pretty much everything we need. So the position is perfect. And - unusually for the streets round here - it has off-street parking for our car. We really didn't want to buy something without a parking space; it would be a real pain to have to park a block over if it was raining, say. A garage would have been nice, of course, but we'd have had to either move areas or pay an extra 20k.

The layout of the house: downstairs, there's a small, rather awkwardly shaped living-room to the front of the house, and a nice kitchen/dining-room to the rear. The kitchen/dining-room opens out onto a teeny patch of garden. More of a symbolic garden than an actual one - but at least we'll be able to sit outside on the patio, if the weather is ever conducive to such activities.

Also downstairs are a utility room and a guest-loo. The owners built these on - the house is Victorian, so such things had to be added as an afterthought. Many of the houses we looked at had no place for a dryer, let alone a separate laundry room. So that is a big plus for us.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms and a bathroom. The main bedroom is a decent size, the other two bedrooms are pretty darn small. But not as ridiculously small as many that we saw.

And upstairs again, the owners have done a loft conversion, so there's a loft room with pretty views that's accessed by a ladder. Not sure what we'll do with that room - the girls want to share it, Stephen wants it, and we think it might make a nice study cum guestroom.

The house is small. Probably about half the size of the house we had in Florida (for, if we factor the exchange rate it, more than double the price, sadly). We are hoping it is just big enough that we won't drive each other crazy.

So. That's the house!
