Things That Are Just Wrong

  • When I took poor Roly-poly to the vet this evening after work the vet referred to me as "Roly's mummy". (Roly has a nasty cut on his chin, poor baby - seems some bullying neighbourhood cat must have bitten him...)

  • They are selling mince pies and Christmas cakes in the shops and it's only September.

  • Our checking account shows that the girls' school cashed two lunch cheques, one for each child. However they flat-out deny having done so. They claim they only ever received one. So that means yet another phone call tomorrow, and I literally don't have time, since I'm teaching all eight periods.

  • But on the plus side...

  • We were able to give Roly his first dose of antibiotic this evening without any trouble, so he should feel better very soon.

  • The weather's gorgeous. We've had a string of perfect crisp sunny blue Autumn days, and they're predicting another week of this.

  • All the kids have been incredibly pleasant for the past few weeks. I hate to say it since maybe it will jinx things, but they really are all fabulous.

  • And it's practically the weekend already, since tomorrow will be so fiendishly busy that I won't notice it go by.

Roly's "mummy"? What was the vet thinking? (Hope your "poor baby" is better soon...)

Well I must admit that as I typed "poor baby" I realised that perhaps the vet wasn't actually that far off...
