Two. More. Weeks.
I hate that term ends so late this year; the timetable means that I need to endure two more full weeks till I'm finally on holiday. And it's hard to get into the swing of all things Christmassy while the normal grind of preparing/marking/studying continues.
However, we put the Christmas tree up last night, so the at least once I'm home every evening we can put the Christmas tree lights on and sit in front of the fire...
Bobby's mum arrived safely on Monday. I had been worried that she would be bored and lonely without Bobby's dad while we were at work, but on her second day here she walked into town and made a new friend, on her third day she went to a church service and made a second friend, on her fourth day, she went out to tea with said friends ... so I think she's going to be all right! She is thoroughly enjoying being able to be independent here; she doesn't drive anymore, and the lack of public transport combined with the crime situation where she lives means that she's dependent on other people to take her about. Very frustrating, for a person as full as energy as she is. I just hope that she doesn't tire herself out too much while she's here. She has had a lot of back trouble in the past, and she's doing an unaccustomed amount of walking each day. That, combined with a refusal to ever admit tiredness, could be a problem at some stage...

It sounds like your mum-in-law is doing great!
I would love to hear stories about growing up in South Africa sometime...if you ever want to.
Hang in there...only two weeks to go.
all that walking might actually be good for her!
glad she is doing well and enjoying herself!
I too am happy to hear that you mil is enjoying her stay with you. Would she consider moving to England to be closer to all of you?
trully social (as opposed to those like me that "look" and "act" extroverted but are not really!LOL)fascinate me. My cousin came to stay w/ us in CA and already has a bunch of friends. I've been here for most of my life and have the same friends I had in High School. I'm envious of her!LOL

I agree with Madre-terra's comments. :)
it sounds like your mil needs to relocate, so she can improve her quality of life and have independence by walking to and fro again.
it's wonderful that she's having such a grand time there !
