Today I created my very own snow-scape.
From huge amounts of ice which I scraped out of the freezer compartment of our fridge/freezer. It had gradually become clear to use that this fridge is not of the self-defrosting variety; however we ignored that fact until the ice buildup made it impossible for us to retrieve the lone packet of frozen peas that was lurking there.
So that was exciting. Or at least, as exciting as my day got.
Also today, I cleared out the linen cupboard, discovering one of Sophie's shoes, a desk light and a rather frightening, incredibly ancient, clove orange in the process. Bobby was confused by this last item; seems the only type of clove he's familiar with are garlic cloves, and he couldn't really see the point of studding an orange with garlic cloves. And we did a run to the dump, booked a time for the new carpet installation, painted some more of the stairs (banisters take forever to paint) and did what felt like a million loads of washing. I'm tired. And let's not even talk about all the marking and lesson preparation that still has to be done sometime between now and Monday morning.
Bobby's mum arrives at 6.35 on Monday morning, hence all the frantic cleaning and tidying here. I'm looking forward to seeing her very much; hope we can make sure that she has a really good holiday. I am so sad that Bobby's dad will not be with us. He would have been so proud of Bobs doing all that tiling and floor-laying and so on...
