Riding to work proved to be very enjoyable. It is not a hostile route like the one Bobs rides, and there was less traffic on the roads than usual because most schools are on holiday till Wednesday, which made it even easier. The first half of the route takes one along fairly busy roads, but the half is lovely - a beautiful path through fields, and then a rather rocky foresty track until one gets to the school grounds. It is quite hilly, but nothing like the killer hill Bobby goes up. So, definitely something nice to do in good weather.
And when I got home, the kids were all happy and huggy and pleased to see me, and Bobby had a wonderful lamb vindaloo in the crockpot. So, after we'd walked down to the high street to run an errand or two, we came back home to eat a delicious meal before watching a truly beautiful film - The Motorcycle Diaries.
So that was all good.
But work itself .... Ugh! It was so freakishly unbelievably hideously mindbogglingly infuriatingly BORING! I couldn't believe it; got there this morning and the head of our department hadn't bothered to sort out who'd be working with which children, let alone actually put timetables together. So I sat around doing nothing all morning, and then observed two arbitrary Year 10 classes in the afternoon, supposedly to get sense of who might need extra help, but really, I suspect, just to give me something to do. And that - random observations - is what I'm supposed to be doing for the next two weeks, till they actually figure out the timetables! It's ridiculous.
If work continues this boring, I will absolutely have to find some other family-friendly money-earning option, because much more of this will drive me stark staring raving mad.
