I think we are going to go ahead and put in an offer on a house. I looked at it on Thursday afternoon with my folks and liked it; went back today with Bobby and he likes it too. It's a sweet little house; looking at it from the road it looks just like the stereotypical child's drawing of a house.

The estate agency is open tomorrow so I guess I will call them and let them know. Not really the best timing, since we are going camping on Monday.

Of course even if our offer is accepted we are still a long way away from actually gettng the house, because either of us can back out of the deal at any stage before the final hand-over. However. Nothing we can do about any of that stuff, so no point in worrying about it.

Am relieved that I can stop looking at houses for a while at least (and forever, if this offer goes through). Saw a house on Friday that gave me the shudders, both house and owner. The house was all embossed wallpaper and ticking clocks and furniture polish, and the owner gave me the feeling that he might have any number of corpses buried under the pavingstones outside. Specially when his timid, slightly cowering wife reminded him to tell me about the storage closet in the kitchen and he went to all kinds of lengths to avoid opening it. I was extremely relieved when I got out of there; I seriously was starting to feel creeped-out by the guy. Made me think that maybe going to see houses alone is not necessarily a terribly good idea? Also, I didn't care for the boot-shaped ceramic "decoration" in his garden.
