According to uk.weather.com, the sun is shining here right now. In reality, nasty sleety stuff is falling out of a grey sky. Sigh.

Everyone else is still fast asleep, and I'm killing time till the post office opens, at which stage I will have to venture out into the sleet.

Bobby is worrying me a bit; aside from the fact that his temperature is down, he is still not much better than he was at the start of the week, even though he has spent the entire week in bed. Those of you who know him in real life will realise how unusual this is; his general approach to life is to get the most possible out of every minute, so it is quite disturbing for me to see him so lethargic and ill. If he is not better by Monday I think I will have to make him see the doctor again.

The reason I need to go to the post office is that I am having my degrees evaluated by the official certifying body here, so that I have proof that they're equivalent to UK degrees. I need to do this because I think I am going to apply for the graduate teaching programme - a fast-track employment based route to a teaching qualification.

If all goes well, I'd be qualified three terms hence, and I'd receive a grant during the training process. I am a bit anxious about starting the process, though, because I have to approach the school where I'm currently working to see if they'll sponsor me through it. There's a good chance they'll say yes, as they will receive funding from the government if they do (English teachers are in short supply here, apparently). But if they say no, then (a) I'll have to try to find a school who will sponsor me, which might be tricky, and (b) I'm worried that, since my current school will then know that I don't want to be in my current job forever, they won't renew my current contract in August even if I haven't been accepted onto the programme. Which would be sad (because I actually like my current job) and frustrating (because I'd have to endure the ghastly job-hunting experience again) and unfair (because I think I'm pretty good at what I'm doing at the moment).
