Have to wonder what goes through the teacher's minds when they plan Fun Days At School.
Soph is having a week of all-day maths games at school. All well and good, she's loving it - but the theme is Tropical Days. So tomorrow, in keeping with the theme, she has to go to school in Something Hawaiian. I'm sure that'll work well with the freezing drizzle that the weather forecast predicts for tomorrow.
And then of course today's injury isn't really going to add to help with the sunny, happy look. When I picked her up after football today, I was horrified - she has a cut, swollen upper lip and a huge scrape that runs from just under her nose all the way down to her chin. Apparently some kid tripped on the playground and fell onto her at lunchtime, and Soph hit the asphalt face-first. She looks like someone beat her up, poor little chickie.
So she's rather miserable and wobbly, Ems is fed up because she was supposed to go and see a movie with a friend this evening, but said friend had to cancel because she has come down with the flu (about 1/3 of Em's school has been laid low with it, apparently), Steve is in a bad mood because he's been wrestling with his maths homework all evening, and Bobby and I are both very tired after a string of nights where we haven't made it to bed before 2am.
I think this calls for an early night for all concerned.
