Things we've enjoyed this weekend :

Driving the slow, scenic route to Gainesville for the kids' climbing competition. We went along the back roads, through farmland, rather than along the highway. It was green and winding and soothing.

Watching the kids climb. Seeing one's children develop new talents is an amazing feeling.

Watching Sophie meet some other younger-siblings-of-climbers at the competition, and instantly make friends with them. I love that she does this wherever she goes - I hope she never loses this ability.

Eating dinner together after the comp, and driving home in the dark listening to This American Life. Bobby downloads this from audible.com for his i-pod so we can listen to it whenever it's convenient. I adore Ira Glass.

Collapsing into bed when we got home sometime after midnight. Nothing beats the feeling of falling asleep when you're really tired.

Having coffee with a friend while the kids were in RE this morning.

Church. One of our congregation told us about her journey to China to adopt her daughter - it was incredibly moving.

A quick trip after church to a store off I4 that sells South African goodies. We bought ourselves a whole bunch of treats : Nando's sauce, Five Roses tea, fish paste, Pro-Nutro and even fizzers and zoo biscuits! Zoo biscuits are the taste of my childhood!

Watching the UCF Shakespeare Company's production of "Anthony and Cleopatra" in the park with our book group. Gorgeous clear, cool, sunny weather, blue sky above, the lake behind the actors ...

Walking along the lake on the way back to the car, enjoying the long summer evening, and seeing three tiny ducklings poke their heads out from under their mama's wing so that she could feed them.
