photo round-up...

Christmas Eve - a foggy early-morning bike ride while the kids slept...

A walk through the park with my parents and the kids...

followed by coffee (thought the kids deserved a reward for their good grace in enduring a walk that none of them really wanted to participate in)

and, back home, my mom's yule log

The gingerbread man on the tree seems to ask "is this really what it's all about?" For you, yes it is, no-one is going to eat you because the sugar got left out of your dough!

Next morning...stockings...

Apparently we have not yet reached the cut-off age for stockings. I suspect that it will only arrive when (if) any grandchildren do!

Present opening...

playing with the presents...

and food!

(and drink: chambord in champagne is fabulous!)

The aftermath ... note the empty plate except for the lurking brussel sprouts. We thought we'd give them one last go seeing as how most British people seem to serve them as part of a traditional Christmas dinner; we found a recipe that sounded nice (olive oil and lemon juice and pancetta) but they still taste like nasty little cabbages.

Boxing day walk (skip!) beside the icy sea

and the best part is, we're all still on holiday! Today has been lovely; the weather is stunning (icy and blue) so we've been for a walk, played with the wii fit, and are reading our new books. Stephen's reading Ben Goldacres's Bad Science, Emily is reading Malorie Blackman's Double Cross, Bobby's reading The Lost Diaries of Adrian Mole, Sophie's reading The Four Story Mistake (wonderful book!) and I'm reading Kate Atkinson's When Will There Be Good News?, which I'm enjoying very, very much.

I love this time of year!

That is all fabulous.
You are all dressed so lovely for dinner. :)
Looks like the Wii fit is so much fun,
and the walk by the sea has me envious just a bit. (how I miss the sea.).
The yule log was very well done.
A nice holiday you all had.
now onto New Year :)
