Walking back from the cinema last night, Bobby's feet slowed and he said, very seriously, "Ann? You know I couldn't sleep last night...? I've been really worried."
At which point about a hundred awful scenarios flitted through my head, until he went on to say,"It's the Y chromosome. It's such a pathetic chromosome, and it seems to me that men may just die out at some stage in the future." Yes, well, okay... His new book (which he is enjoying greatly, despite the angst it seems to be causing him) has a lot to answer for.
We'd been to the cinema to see Pan's Labyrinth, which - though it was a lot darker than I'd bargained on - I highly recommend. Set in Spain during World War II, it's a story of a little girl who lives in two worlds, one where her mother has married a Facist army commander, and one where she has to prove that she is a princess in a magical underground world, which is itself a strange and frightening place. I will be thinking about this film for a long time to come.
Meanwhile, onwards and upwards. I can hear Bobby in the shower, and it's time to wake Sophie. Emily will be home from her paper round soon, at which point I will need to dislodge Stephen from the other computer where he is frantically doing work which I assume is due in first lesson, so we can get going with breakfast. I am so happy that the days are getting longer again; it is so nice to go to work and come home again while the sun is still up!! (Not that we actually see the sun terribly often at the moment, mind you, but at least we know it's there, behind the clouds.)

We say Pan's Labrynth last month. Wow...hu? I am so glad that my youngest wasn't with us and I had to poke my oldest a few times to let her know how much I appreciated the violence. But....like you say, it's a terribly good film. It haunts me. It was so dark, so beautiful.
My eldest is interested in special effects make up and she was the one that said we just had to go and see it. Wow.
I love the longer days as well.
Spring is almost here!
I so want to see that movie, it saw it on the Oscars and it's not out here for ages.
