So far today ....

I have been berated by the man in the bookstore for paying for one of Sophie's birthday presents with my American Express card. Apparently AmEx charges the vendor high rates, takes ages to pay them, and the transactions go through slower than anyone else's at the actual point of sale. Um ... not actually my problem, but don't worry, next time I'll shop at the other bookstore.

While looking at the sale items in Monsoon, my foot was ridden over by a giant Hummer-like stroller containing a surly baby who looked exactly Winston Churchill, but with a floral headband. Painful, and scary. And, on what planet does marking a little girl's cotton skirt down to 34 pounds from 40 pounds make it a bargain?

After I'd limped home I stepped outside to hang up the washing (the sun is still shining!), and went flying as I trod on Stephen's skateboard, which he had thoughtfully left right outside the door. Did not actually injure myself, despite having my arms full thanks to the huge washing basket, but was highly annoyed nonetheless.

However, on the plus side - only two more days till Sophie's school breaks up, three more days till Emily's follows suit, four more days till Stephen's holiday job ends, and five more days till Sophie's birthday!
