Just spent a rather awkward ten minutes on our front doorstep, listening to a young (alleged) art student show me a folder of paintings, supposedly so he could get feedback about them, but presumably actually in the hope that I would buy one. Only, he was all shy and awkward about it, and really dithered horribly when he got to the bit where he was supposed to get me to buy one. Of course even if he had been a more competent salesman I still wouldn't have bought one (I am not very good at buying things), but he's not to know that. I feel sorry for him, and vaguely guilty about not helping him out ... I can't imagine that he's going to manage to sell much.
