Well, I made it.

We took a wrong turn right at the end of the eight miles, and, were it not for the fact that one of the kids in my group is a competent map-reader, we'd probably still be wandering around up in the hills. Aside from that, though, everything went smoothly.

I'm quite tired this evening, but I have to admit that the day actually was enjoyable. Pretty scenery - we were walking the section of the North Downs Way that runs between Dorking and Reigate - and the kids in my group were all pleasant, once the omnipresent iPods were dislodged from their ears.

I just wish I could dislodge Bobby from his new semi-permanent position - on the sofa, glued to the bloody World Cup. I am sick of it already and it's only just begun.
