Today Sophie managed to soak her shoes when she stepped into a dungeon full of ankle-deep, icy water (oddly, she didn't mind this), slip down a grassy bank and cover the back of her jeans and her jacket sleeve with mud (which outraged her), and get her jeans wet in the sea (which she didn't notice).

Just another day for her.

But what can you expect, with genes like these?

Here they are together.

The setting for all this excitement : a visit to Pevensey Castle, followed by a walk along the beach at Pevensey Bay. I've been longing for a decent beach walk for ages now, but alas, this one just didn't do it for me. The noise of the waves was soothing, but the beach ... Well, a beach that's made of pebbles instead of sand is just wrong, and that's all there is to it.

A few more pictures:

Castle and moat.
Trees and field below the castle. I never get tired of these views.
The beach. It is pretty, in its own way.
Pebbles.
