Else I would never have worked out that "Menzies" is pronounced either "Mingis" or "Ming". I kept hearing this pronunciation on the radio on my way in to work (Menzies Campbell is current favourite for leadship of the Liberal Democrats), but I kept assuming I was hearing wrong.

Apparently not.

I knew about Featherstonehaugh (pronounced Fanshaw) and Magdalene College (Maudlin College) and Cholmondely (Chumley, apparently). But Menzies was a new one on me.

Am thinking of having another child and naming him Pxtwyzmaing. Pronounced John.
