Well, we're in!

The new house is going to be a very pleasant space to live. The extra space is quite something - it's wonderful to be able to really spread out. And having the pool is wonderful. Last night the kids swam, and we ate out by the pool ... it was lovely. I'll put up some pictures later in the week.

Stephen and I were up at 5.15 this morning, and I dropped him off at the bus stop at 6.05. It was actually a relatively painless process for both of us - though I suspect that the first morning is always easiest. All that adrenaline buoying one up. It's still pitch-dark here at 6 am. It looks quite surreal - ghostly teens standing on the corner, while the parents lurk in their parked cars. Unfortunately they've reduced the number of bus stops for the magnet programs, so the bus stop is about a mile and a half from us. I guess he can walk back most days, but walking there in the dark seems way too grim an experience. Ems will be leaving from that same bus stop in about 2 hours. She could walk - daylight and all - but ... I don't know. It'll be okay if there's another pre-IB kid in the neighbourhood and they walk together. But I just don't feel comfortable with her walking on her own. Physically, she's so small ... and walking all on by herself ... I don't know. Maybe I am being a bit neurotic about this. Anyway, for the meanwhile, I'll give her a ride.

The sky is getting light now. I can hear birds ... And here comes my sweet Sophie. Time for the next round of breakfast preparation I guess.
