Yesterday was a bit of a write-off.

Bobby had been having a strange and horrible pain for a few days, and finally got unnerved enough by it that he thought it should be looked at. I guess between Kirsty and my mom we are currently both uncharacteristically nervous about weird symptoms. Of course, as with all symptoms, it peaked in severity on the first day of the long weekend. The trip to the walk-in clinic, followed by a referral to the emergency room at Winter Park, took up practically our whole day. Bobs had a fun time of ultrasounds, urine tests and numerous blood tests, and (eventually) we went home with a prescription for an antibiotic, the doctor having surmised that maybe he somehow injured himself climbing (harness too tight or something?), didn't notice at the time, and some kind of infection set in thereafter. It was a big relief to find out that there's nothing too serious wrong. Well worth the tedium, the misery of all those icky tests, and the huge bill that I'm sure is, even as I type, winging its way towards us.

We stopped in at Whole Foods on the way home (it's just across the street from the hospital) and picked up some totally yummy soup (roasted eggplant, mmm) and bread and peaches for supper. And then we all watched an episode of Inspector Morse that I'd got out of the library on Friday. So at least the day ended well.
We spent most of today by the pool. We all have that pleasant after-swim feel - that tired, been-in-the-sun-and-water-all-day feel. This evening we watched Dirty Pretty Things - pretty good. There were a couple holes in the plot, but I enjoyed it a lot nonetheless. It's been ages since I've seen an intelligent thriller.

As soon as it stops raining (which it should do in just a few minutes (I think the clouds are blowing over) we're going to go outside and set off some fireworks.

I just played this funny little game with the girls while we've been waiting - link courtesy of Bobby. It's a nice little timewaster.
