This afternoon, at about 4.45, I grabbed my purse and sunglasses and headed out to the car - it was time to fetch Bobby from work. As I got into the car, my sunglasses actually fogged up. Unbelievable. It's not as though I had the air on particularly cold inside either - we keep it around 73ish. Which leads me to believe that it's just way too hot in this city.

I needed to fetch Bobby from work because I didn't want him to have to drive today. Even though he and Ems only got in to Orlando at 6am this morning, he showered, breakfasted, and went in to work as usual. He didn't even utter a word of complaint. Very noble. It didn't seem like he'd be all that safe on the road, though, considering he already looked a more than a little dazed at 8am. Sheesh, I was pretty darn tired and all I'd had to do was be at the airport at 6 to meet them!

Emily had an absolutely wonderful time at the competition. She came off the first wall relatively early, unfortunately. She and Bobby both think it was just a size issue - her feet were in the same spot as the people who made it, but she was just too short to reach the next hold. We'll show the video to her coach, though, and see if he thinks it could have been a sequencing or technique thing. So the first climb was a bit disappointing, but she flashed the second one, which made up for it. She loved the climbing itself, and she loved the atmosphere at the competition. She's come home psyched and ready to do even better next year.

It sounds like it was a great father-daughter trip. Aside from the climbing, they played table tennis (more fun for E than B I gather), took in a movie, and did some sightseeing. Cuties. I do love them.

In other news, the realtor called today to let us know that the sellers have agreed to everything. They will give us a cheque for the roof replacement, they will provide documentation certifying that the A/C is in perfect condition, they'll fix the teeny bit of woodrot in the garage, they'll repaint two of the rooms (they are currently an awful army-green sort of colour) and ... well ... those were all the conditions we'd stipulated. Oh, and the bank came out and appraised the house (we'd been worried that we might be overpaying, so we put in a clause to say the offer wouldn't stand unless the house appraised at at least the selling price) - and the realtor says that the appraiser says that the house is indeed worth at least its selling price, and that, in fact, other similar houses in the neighbourhood have sold for distinctly more.

So. We haven't got any of this in writing yet, but as soon as that happens (tomorrow, I assume) it's all done. We have the house. The realtor says we're still on track to close on the 29th ... so we're moving in two weeks' time!

Oh, and sometime later this week I get to pick out new carpets for the carpeted area of the house. The sellers have dogs (one little one, and one ENORMOUS one - it's a Great Dane and it weighs 166 pounds, which is the same as Bobby) so the carpets are a bit worse for wear. We wouldn't have thought to ask them to replace the carpets, but they had "buyer to choose new carpet" as one of their enticements to prospective buyers. I'm not sure how wonderful a range we can choose from, but, let's face it, it'll be better than what we could afford right now!
