Steve's cake last night turned out delicious.

Ems, not to be outdone, is making dinner tonight. She made a crustless milk tart earlier this afternoon, and is currently wrestling with potato wedges, baked chicken, and peas. She has Sophie setting the table and generally fetching and carrying for her. There are wine glasses on the table, with little paper parasols in them. Also a menu, which Ems did on the computer and printed out. I've been staying out of the way - I told Emily that I didn't care what she cooked so long as it was proper food, and so long as I didn't have to help her. Haven't heard anything too ominous, except for one crash a few minutes ago, which I think signalled the death of a wine glass.

Maybe this will spur Steve on to even greater heights tomorrow night, and then Em will want to match his achievement, and I will never have to cook again.

After we've eaten we're meeting friends and going for a stroll round Lake Eola. Should be pleasant. I love these long summer evenings.

I leave you with this to ponder on : what do you suppose our neighbours were thinking when they named one of their daughters Logan, and one Bliss? Both terrible names, but terrible in such different ways.
