At last!
Emily's growth hormone ships today, and will arrive here tomorrow. Now there's a real incentive to clean out the fridge (the growth hormone has to be kept refrigerated). We go to the endo's office tomorrow at 2.30 for training : she'll teach us how to store the hormone, and how to administer the injections. I'm hoping that Ems will soon grow confident enough to give herself the injections. I'm sure having some control over the process will make it easier for her.
I should have burst into tears on the phone months ago, it seems. That, plus a dozen calls over the course of the day (to the growth hormone nurse, to the supplier, to the pharmacy, to the insurance) finally spurred everyone into action.
So that's great news! I get to be with Emily for at least her first injection, she'll be safely started before I leave, and (please God) we'll see some growth in the next few months. She's been 50 pounds and 50 inches for longer than I care to remember.
The bad news is that her medication is going to set us back $1443.48 every month, till we reach our $4000 deductible. Then we get reimbursed at 80% till we reach $6050. And then we get reimbursed 100%. So the next few months may be a little sticky. To say the least. But ... what can you do? She needs the treatment. And I'm grateful she's going to be having it.
More good news : Stephen has been invited to the Divisional climbing competition. Apparently someone from another state pulled out, so they have an extra slot. He's chuffed.
I'm plugging along at my list of things to do : should be finished by tomorrow night, I think. Hope. I got photos for the visa app. today, got printer ink and printed out everything necessary, dropped off my dry-cleaning, and cleaned the car ... Not bad, considering I also had to deal with all the growth hormone issues. Tomorrow morning a friend is visiting, then we'll have the training in the afternoon, I'll go grocery shopping - and then I'll be done! Well, except for packing. My plan is to have Thursday morning completely free of chores, so that I can just play with the kids without worrying about anything.
