Fun questions from Sue!
1. Tell me about the latest, or funniest, or otherwise most noteworthy spam you've received.
I seem to get two types of spam currently. The first type is ads for viagra. The second is weightloss tips. I can only assume that I'm on some list of overweight impotent men.
2. What, to you, constitutes comfort food? Why is this? Discuss.
Well, it's not strictly speaking a food, but I'd have to pick tea. My default in times of stress is to put the kettle on and make tea. I guess the ritual of warming the teapot and making the tea and pouring it is soothing. And it's what my mom always does ... And the caffeine hit is good too.
3. Assuming money and the ideal childcare situation and scheduling and transportation and so forth were no object, what's happening in your area this weekend that sounds like fun?
I don't even know. How sad is that. There's probably someone playing down at House of Blues, but I don't know who ... Oh wait, there is one cool thing happening that I know of : the South Asian Film Festival. Bobby and I are going to see one of the movies on Monday night.
4. What room, what area, or piece of furniture or what-have-you, is the focal point of your home? (either physically or emotionally) Is this something you set up intentionally, or did it just evolve that way? Elaborate.
The living area in our home is open-plan, so the kitchen/diningroom/livingroom all merge into one another, and that's where most people are, most of the time. It's the gathering place by default rather than design. Of all the rooms in the house, the one I like best is my bedroom. There's not much in it - just a bookshelf and some plants and little bedside table that I painted - but what's there is pretty. It's spacious and uncluttered and tranquil, and the view is attractive - it looks over the lake (as do the two other bedrooms and the living area). And on sunny days (and most days here are sunny) the rainbow-maker I bought at Christmas time hangs in the window and makes rainbow sparkles all over the walls and ceilings.
5. Tell me about something which has gotten broken in your household recently.
Oh geez, we seem to break things all the time. Most recently, the CD drive on Emily's computer seems to be broken. Oh, when I stopped at the gas station to fill up the car on the way to Disney yesterday, the cover thingy (does the little door that hides the cap have a name?) wouldn't open when I pushed the "open" lever! Eventually, after much fiddling and (nervous) poking with a key, I got it open and we were good to go ... I'd better experiment with it tomorrow so that I still have enough gas left to get to a repair shop if necessary.
